Lincoln, incorporated in 1829, is home to 5221 people. With 19 miles of Penobscot River shoreline and 13 lakes, Lincoln is a fisherman’s paradise. Whitetail deer, black bear, moose, ducks, wild turkeys and ruffed grouse (partridge) make this area a popular hunting destination as well. Many Registered Maine Guides can help you find fish and game. Clubs maintain miles of groomed snowmobile and ATV trails, easily accessible not far from our apartments.
Lincoln covers 76.8 square miles. One of our lakes, Mattanawcook Pond (visible in the photo above) is right in downtown Lincoln, with a public beach. There’s an airport at the river’s edge for small aircraft and seaplanes. Penobscot Valley Hospital provides emergency room services, complete with a helipad for LifeFlight helicopters. Public boat landings are located on most area lakes and along the Penobscot River.
As a shopping center for many smaller area towns, Lincoln has stores that can provide whatever you need. From larger retailers like Wal-Mart to gift shops and convenience stores, area merchants are ready to serve you. Local service is available for your vehicle, snowmobile, boat or ATV. Church suppers, summer Friday night concerts at the gazebo downtown and a big Homecoming celebration in July add to the hometown charm.
Lincoln is centrally located, just 60 miles south of Baxter State Park and 48 miles north of Bangor, Maine. It’s only a short drive to Milinocket as well, another quaint Maine town. You can stay at our apartments and plan day trips from here to see more of Maine.
